London has been the traditional epicentre of the UK restaurant scene and the awards ceremony took place in the capital for many years, but more recently Michelin has been on a mission to tour other parts of the UK. After last year’s ceremony took place in Manchester, this year Michelin headed to Glasgow, with the Michelin Guide Ceremony for Great Britain and Ireland 2025 taking place at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.

Michelin always gives out an array of special awards each year too, recognising personal contributions in various areas of the industry.

The first award out on the night was the Mentor Chef Award, given to chefs that have a long history of bringing young chefs through in the industry. This year’s winner was Trinity chef patron Adam Byatt, who has seen the likes of Restaurant Story’s Tom Sellers, Angelo Sato (Humble Chicken), Aaron Potter (Wildflowers) and more come through his kitchen. The Young Chef of the Year award was given to Ash Valenzuela-Heeger from Riverine Rabbit - a striking, 12-seat chef's counter in Stirchley, Birmingham.

The special awards continued with the Michelin Service award, given to Jasmine Sherry from Fish Shop Ballater, and the Michelin Sommelier Award, won by Zsolt Lukacs from Darog Wine Bar in Galway City.
