Just before revealing a host of new Michelin stars, the legendary guide has quietly revealed the new restaurants in the UK which have received a Bib Gourmand for 2025.
A whopping 36 new restaurants have joined the ranks, being given the accolade of a Bib Gourmand this year. The majority of those restaurants are in England and Scotland, but Ireland is also present, with a single new restaurant in Northern Ireland and Wales respectively.
Michelin ordinarily releases the Bib Gourmand list shortly before the main ceremony for new stars, but this year chose to announce the arrival of new Bib Gourmands at the beginning of the main ceremony. The list was then released online, before Michelin announced a host of new Michelin stars for 2025 at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow.
Leading the charge in 2025 was London restaurant duo OMA and AGORA - the latest project from rapid-rising London restaurateur David Carter (who also runs Smokestak and Manteca). OMA was the first restaurant to receive a Michelin star in 2025, and sister site AGORA added a Bib Gourmand to a stellar year that also includes being voted SquareMeal's London Restaurant of the Year in 2025. The likes of Donia, Josephine, Kolae, Mambow and Morchella also featured in our Top 100 London Restaurants list, and received Bib Gourmands this year. You can see the full SquareMeal Top 100 London Restaurants list here.
Outside London, England scooped 16 new Bib Gourmands, with a spread all over the country from Argoe in Newlyn, Cornwall, to Bavette in Leeds and The Schelly in Ambleside, Cumbria. Bristol continues to stake a claim as the UK's best value city with another three Bib Gourmands (Little Hollows Pasta, Tare Bistro and OTHER) bringing the city's Bib Gourmand total up to nine.
Outside of England, Scotland racked up five new Bib Gourmands, with Roberta Hall-McCarron's Ardfern among the list. Wales brought it home with Heathcock in Cardiff (a slick, Scandi neighbourhood restaurant in Llandaff serving seasonal British fare), while Michael Deanes new restaurant mrDeanes was the lone new entry for Northern Ireland. Over in the Republic of Ireland Baba’de in Baltimore, and daróg in Galway made the cut.
Who won a Bib Gourmand in 2025?
Bib Gourmands were first introduced in 1997 and are said to recognise restaurants that serve high quality food for a fair price. They’ve since become a hallmark of must-visit restaurants up and down the country and include everything from street food cafes through to high end restaurants.
