Best Michelin-starred restaurants in Glasgow: A guide to the stars and Bib Gourmands

Despite a slow burn, Michelin-starred restaurants in Glasgow are finally a reality. For years, Edinburgh ruled the roost in the Scottish Michelin star league tables, but recent years have seen Glasgow make a rousing comeback. First, Lorna McNee’s Cail Bruich won the first Michelin star in 17 years for Glasgow’s restaurant scene, before Graeme Cheevers doubled the star tally in 2022 with his exceptional tasting odysseys at Unalome.

Glasgow’s two Michelin stars are about more than the stars themselves. This city is so much more than just two star-crossed restaurants, in fact, some of the best restaurants in Glasgow aren't even in the Michelin Guide! That said, Glasgow's growing presence in the Guide is certainly a step in the right direction, and a testament to the city’s exciting, rejuvenated food scene.

Look past the stars and you’ll find a host of Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded eateries too. The Bib Gourmand is handed out to restaurants that demonstrate good quality and value - something that, in truth, Glasgow has had in spades for a little while now.

Aside from those given a star or Bib Gourmand, the guide features yet more Glasgow restaurants, recognised for quality food even if it doesn’t quite meet award levels. Glaswegians have fallen head over heels for the likes of Stravaigin, as well as for Glasgow institutions like Number 16.

Still, we’re focusing on the award-winners here - a compact list for sure, but one that only looks set to grow in the coming years. Let's take a look at Glasgow’s Michelin-recognised restaurants.

Michelin-starred restaurants in Glasgow

There are currently two Michelin-starred restaurants in Glasgow, run by the trailblazing chef Lorna McNee and legendary local chef Graeme Cheevers respectively.

Cail Bruich

What: Lorna McNee is a Scottish chef with a serious pedigree - after years spent at prestigious Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, McNee broke out on her own at Cail Bruich, and channelled years of Fairlie’s tutelage into a Michelin star. McNee and her team cook with total confidence, in the quality of local Scottish produce that they showcase, and in their own skill. Keep an eye out for absolutely stunning dessert courses, where McNee’s long stint as Restaurant Andrew Fairlie's pastry chef is on display. Cail Bruich has since birthed a couple of equally fantastic, more casual spots in Epicures by Cail Bruich, the much-hyped Bar Brett and the seafood bar Shucks, making it a shoe-in for the most influential restaurant group in Glasgow right now.

Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Glasgow

Michelin's Bib Gourmand awards were created to recognise great restaurants that didn't reach the standards of a Michelin star, but were offered great food at affordable prices. There are currently three restaurants in Glasgow with Bib Gourmands.

Sebb’s

Skewer dish and hand holding a cocktial

What: Sebb’s is a subterranean bar and restaurant from Scoop Restaurant Group, the same team behind Ox and Finch, Ka Pao and Margo. Food is built around bold, globally influenced small plates. With charcoal grilling at the core, menus cover richly spiced meats to vegetable-led plates with punchy sauces. The bar is a major draw in its own right, winning Best Cocktail Award at the 2026 Michelin ceremony, recognised for drinks that comfortably match the ambition of the kitchen.
Where: 68 Miller Street, Merchant City, G1 1DT

The Clarence

Range of gastropub dishes on a table

What: Set in Hyndland, The Clarence sits comfortably between a polished dining room and a proper neighbourhood pub. Part of Cultar Restaurant Group, also responsible for Cail Bruich and Brett, the appeal lies in its confident, ingredient-led Modern British menu, where dry-aged steaks are cooked over open flame alongside dishes such as monkfish tail, pork chop and a well-judged chicken Kyiv. Sunday brings a generous roast with chateaubriand, while the bar leans classic but playful, backed by oysters, good wine and nostalgic pudding.

Margo

Cod dish, and steak dish

What: Located on Miller Street, Margo is a relaxed, buzzy neighbourhood restaurant from the same team behind Glasgow mainstay Ox and Finch. Set in an industrial chic space, Margo hones in on making as much as it can from scratch, from bread to pasta, as well as butchering its own meat in house. The menu follows a sharing style, with a range of snacks, small and large plates on offer, with examples being cold roast lamb with black garlic and saag, cod and squid ink rice with tempura sea vegetables, and whole lemon sole with vadouvan mussel butter sauce.

GaGa

Wooden interiors and egg noodle dish

What: This super laid-back kitchen and bar comes from an all-star team, including Julie Lin (of Julie’s Kopitiam), Marc Ferrier and Ken Hamilton of Thornwood Bar, and the former director of cocktail bar Sweet Liberty in Miami Beach (Fraser Hamilton). It serves South East Asian food all day via a menu of small and large plates, from tasty bites like prawn bao with green coriander mayo, to soul-warming dishes like Malaysian-style chicken curry and sichuan and garlic aubergine. There's an inventive drinks list too that includes 'juicy', 'fizzy' and 'straight up' cocktails.
Where: 566 Dumbarton Road, G11 6RH
Book now: GaGa

Celentano's

fresh pasta being made

What: As Robin Gill’s right-hand man in London, Dean Parker was instrumental to the success of restaurants like The Dairy, The Manor, Sorella and Darby’s, so it’s no surprise that his solo Glasgow restaurant Celentano’s is equally as fantastic. Opened alongside wife Anna, Celentano’s really does feel like a family Italian trattoria. That said, dishes are a little more elevated and interesting than your standard Italian fare, and Celentano’s does a lot of fermenting, pickling and preserving to make sure seasonal ingredients can be used all year round.
Where: 28–32 Cathedral Square, Glasgow, G4 0XA
Book now: Celentano’s

Ox and Finch

smoked fish and olive oil on plate

What: It’s a testament to the quality of the food at Ox and Finch that the restaurant is still absolutely packed seven days a week years after opening. An eclectic menu takes inspiration from far and wide, and you’re encouraged to share your way through plenty of international small plates. Admittedly, it sounds like cause for concern, but the team handles the wide culinary brief admirably. There’s also a brilliant, varied plant-based menu too so vegetarians and vegans don't feel left out.
Where: 920 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G3 7TF
Book now: Ox and Finch

Ka Pao

dishes and crockery on table

What: The team behind Ox and Finch are also responsible for this Bib Gourmand winner, which boasts the same buzzy atmosphere but a slightly more focused menu than its older sibling. The venue is a treat - this Category A-listed basement is the oldest surviving motor garage in Glasgow with arched windows and old details that are lovely to behold whilst you feast on southeast Asian sharing plates like salt and pepper mushrooms, crispy pork belly with cashew and ginger dressing and coconut and pandan ice cream. Cocktails flow here too, with the dedicated bar shaking up Insta-worthy sips that are fun and fruity, if a little sweet at times.
Where: 26 Vinicombe Street, Glasgow, G12 8BE
