About

Inspired by Jericho, a city in the West Bank, Palestine, Restaurant Jericho is a tasting menu experience, located on the farmstead that owner Rich grew up on. The restaurant has been awarded a green Michelin star for its commitment to sustainable gastronomy.

Situated on the family farm, Restaurant Jericho is set in the rural countryside of Leicestershire. The dining room is both spacious yet intimate, with just a handful of tables spaced out across the restaurant floor. Plenty of natural light contrasts with dark furnishings and wooden accents, creating a rustic, unpretentious ambience. The largest table offering is six people and there’s also the option to dine up at the kitchen bench.

Run by Rich and his partner Grace, the pair are self-taught and have a passion for humble, honest food that feels at one with the land. A twenty-course tasting menu, with optional wine pairings, is driven by game, garden vegetables and whatever else is close to hand from the farm. With a hyper-local focus, you won’t find fish or caviar here, but you can expect generous, hearty flavours often cooked over wood. The menu changes frequently depending on what is fresh and in season, with dishes like partridge with carrot mole, aged cull cow with horseradish and rhubarb with swede custard. If you want to sample their food at a fraction of the price, they offer work in progress evenings, where around eight dishes that are working their way onto the tasting menu can be tried, tested and sought feedback on.

In line with the food offering, the wine is a mix of natural, organic and biodynamic blends. The tasting typically runs for around four hours, so book a taxi in advance, and your table even further in advance, and look forward to a menu of surprises.
