In recent years, The Michelin Guide has ventured out of London, hosting award ceremonies in other cities around the UK and Ireland. In 2024, the awards were streamed live from The Midland Hotel in Manchester, and last year's ceremony took place at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow. In 2026, it's Ireland's turn to play host, as the great and good of British and Irish dining will descend on the Convention Centre in Dublin to see another round of Michelin stars awarded.

The awards aren't just about stars, though - Michelin kicks things off with a series of special awards. First, the Michelin Guide's Young Chef of the Year Award, which in 2026 was awarded to Tom Earnshaw, of Bohemia restaurant in Guernsey. Earnshaw is Bohemia's young head chef, replacing Callum Graham as the highly-regarded restaurant's kitchen leader. Then, Sebb's in Glasgow scooped Michelin's Cocktail Award.

Michelin's 2026 Opening of the Year Award went to Maria Bradford's Sierra Leonean Shwen Shwen in Sevenoaks, who opened her restaurant this year to wide acclaim, including a debut spot in the SquareMeal Top 100 Restaurants in the UK list.

Row on 5 Sommelier Roxane Dupuy won Michelin's Sommelier Award for 2026, leading the stellar wine programme at Jason Atherton and Spencer Metzger's fine dining flagship. Finally, the Michelin Service Award 2026 was handed to Barbara Nealon of Saint Francis Provisions in Cork.

Only a handful of restaurants in the UK have two star-status, which is seen as a considerable step up from a single star and requires a degree of consistency and quality over many years. ‘Two stars elevates your restaurant to be one of the best in the world’ - says Michelin. Two new restaurants were awarded two Michelin stars in 2026, both in London.
