Ambassadors Clubhouse is a Punjab-focused Indian restaurant in Mayfair, devised by Jyotin, Karam and Sunaina Sethi of JKS Restaurants.
In Trishna, BiBi, Brigadiers and Gymkhana, JKS Restaurants already oversees a number of the capital’s most highly regarded Indian restaurants. Ambassadors Clubhouse is the group’s first new Indian concept in five years, since the launch of Brigadiers in Bloomberg Arcade.
The concept comes via Jyotin, Karam and Sunaina Sethi’s late grandfather, who was a former Indian ambassador, and the food and drink they grew up enjoying at his summer house in Punjab. Their grandfather - once a brigadier in the Indian Army - was also the inspiration behind Brigadiers, hence the name.
Ambassadors Clubhouse delves into regional Punjabi recipes, ranging from classic papads and chaats to more unusual kebabs cooked in the tandoor, pilaus, biryanis and karahis. Catering to a wealth of occasions, diners can also tuck into lunch and pre-theatre menus, a feasting menu for groups of up to six, as well as special seasonal offerings throughout the year.
The restaurant boasts 140 covers spread across a ground floor dining room and a more relaxed lower ground floor space that will host nights of Punjabi dance, hip hop, house and garage. The site also boasts a 3am license and a DJ booth, making the lower ground into a real party spot in the early hours. You can expect maximalist decor throughout, from Indian prints and patterned carpets to a huge gold dome over the central bar, and the restaurant will have counter dining spots as well as regular tables.
The restaurant also goes big on drinks and general revelry, with a drinks programme that promises ‘Punjabi Margaritas’ made with North Indian fruits, and cocktails focused around tequila and mezcal.
