Grillshack – Richard Caring's all-day grill, which is due to open in Soho this September – is planning a few technological tricks to wow diners.
In a first for London restaurants, diners will be able to download a special app that will allow them to order and pay for their meal from their table – although traditionalists will still be able
to order and pay for their food at the counter.
What’s more, although the restaurant will not take bookings, diners will be able to access the waiting list for tables remotely and bag themselves a place in the queue online using their
smartphones. When their table is ready, they will be notified by SMS and will have 15 minutes to get to the restaurant and claim their table.
‘We think these ideas will work well in Soho, where convenience is key,’ a spokeswoman told Square Meal.
Despite being backed by Richard Caring, whose company Caprice Holdings operates upmarket restaurants Scott’s and
J Sheekey, among others, Grillshack will be decked out in typical Soho style, with pared-down utilitarian decor
aiming to create the feel of an independent start-up restaurant.
Grillshack is due to launch on the former Alphabet site, on Soho’s Beak Street, on 4 September.
