Covent Garden restaurant Le Garrick is celebrating 40 years as one of London's most cherished French dining institutions with something special: for one day only, the restaurant is rolling back prices, sending them tumbling back to 1986 - the year it first opened.
That means classy French cooking - some of the best in London, we think - for prices that are unthinkable in 2026. A bowl of moules frites, for example? Just £5.50. Le Garrick's famous coq au vin? That'll set you back £6.50.

Set on Garrick Street, Le Garrick opened in 1986 in a site neatly set between Leicester Square and Covent Garden, perfectly placed to dish out comforting, authentic French bistro food to theatre-goers, tourists and locals alike. It quickly became an institution, beloved for it's easy-going, accessible food and rustic Gallic atmosphere, with candlelit dining rooms and warm service winning over Londoners.

Le Garrick is beloved for its Gallic charm and brilliant, affordable French cookery
In fact, current owners Dominika and Charles Lepelletier met at Le Garrick over two decades ago, and Charles' upbringing in Toulouse and Burgundy has influenced the food ever since, with many of his mother's recipes becoming cornerstones of the menu.
If you miss out on the special menu, we wouldn't worry too much - Le Garrick's pre-theatre menu starts at just £22 for two courses anyway!
