These are the cheapest Michelin Star Christmas dinners in the UK

The cheapest Michelin Star Christmas dinners across Britain have been revealed, giving diners the chance to eat out at some of the UK’s best restaurants for under £100 per head come the 25 December.

Events company Eventopedia have researched offerings up and down the UK, to find which venues are serving up the most affordable festive meal, and have found that for £95 diners can enjoy an extra special Christmas dinner (and all without any washing up). The Woodspeen in Newbury takes the crown for being the least expensive option at £95, being £84 under the average cost of a Michelin Star meal, while two other places come in at around £100 for their set menus.

If you choose to dine at The Woodspeen you can expect a traditional turnout, with turkey and all the trimmings on offer for mains (as well as some other less classically festive menu options to choose from like venison Rossini and salmon coulibiac), and a pressed rabbit terrine or confit salmon with smoked black garlic for starters.

According to the research just 23 of the 187 Michelin Star restaurants in the UK will be serving up a Christmas dinner with many closed on the big day itself. The results were deduced by contacting each of the restaurants, looking into the cost of their festive menus and trying to reserve a table on the 25 December.

For those willing to splash a little (read: a lot) extra cash this year then the most expensive offering turned out to be Petrus in London, with a menu that sits at £325 per head. Headed up by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, guests will be treated to a luxurious lineup of dishes in a sumptuously decked out dining room.

If nothing but the best will do, and you’re looking for a three Michelin Star meal to help you see out 2019 in style, then the cheapest you’ll find is the Christmas Day lunch at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, which costs £380 per person. For something a little more budget friendly you can get the same quality of cooking with the festive 'lunch hour' special that the team will be serving between Tuesday and Friday up until the 20 December. This offering includes three courses, 2 glasses of wine, tea or coffee and water for £80 per head.

Despite their comparatively high price points, when pitted against an average meal out, all of the Michelin menus go above and beyond your typical three course-er. Many of the restaurants offer welcome drinks, canapés and up to five courses, so that you’ll feel well and truly spoiled.
