Our curated pick of the best trendy restaurants in London is full to the brim with foodie places where you might just spot a celebrity or two, as well as ones that boast the most fashionable interiors.

Updated on 17 December 2025

What makes a restaurant cool? It’s not just about the food – though that’s non-negotiable – it’s about the whole vibe: Interiors that make you want to redecorate your home, menus that push boundaries, and an atmosphere that feels like a night out, not just dinner.

First up, lets talk design: These spots are Instagram catnip – spaces that scream personality. Trendy doesn't just mean loud - we've picked out everything from beautiful, old fashioned dining rooms, candlelit bistros, and industrial-chic, stainless steel clad counters for this list. These are the kind of places where you’ll want to linger long after dessert, soaking up the buzz of the room and revelling in a mere few hours on one of the capital's most in-demand tables.

The second essential element of a cool restaurant – we think – is of course the menu. Does it throw up unusual choices? Does it use beautiful, seasonal ingredients? Are its dishes inventive, surprising or pioneering? There’s no doubt that for a restaurant to be bang on the money, the food has got to be impeccable.

Cool doesn’t have to mean fancy, though. This list includes plenty of casual restaurants that are endlessly edgy, as well as a bunch of lively restaurants known to host DJ sets and epic brunches as part of their standard offering. In our opinion, in order for a restaurant to make the cut, it has to be a guaranteed good time, which is why this trendy list can also be considered a hymn sheet to some of the most fun restaurants in London.

Ready to take your street cred up a notch? Have a scroll and see which restaurant you want to book for an evening worth gloating about.

Tollington’s

172 Tollington Park, Finsbury Park, London, N4 3AJ

The hype restaurant of the moment from Four Legs' Ed McIlroy, Tollington's brings the essence of a great Basque pintxos bar to Finsbury Park. It's busy, the acoustics are pretty bad, and the stool-and-bench seating is not comfortable, but you can't deny the magic of the place, or the outrageously good fish cookery. Tollington's is worth the trip for the chips bravas alone.

The Lavery

4 Cromwell Place, South Kensington, London, SW7 2JE

The Lavery had us from the first sight of that magnificent whitewashed Georgian portico. Climb the stairs into the old residence of Irish painter Sir John Lavery and bask in the beauty of this regal old space, complete with ceilings, sweeping, ornately-carved wooden bannisters, and towering windows. The cooking is excellent too, but The Lavery is all about the atmosphere.
