The Hug & Pint is a vegan eatery, bar and live music venue located on Great Western Road in Glasgow's West End. Serving up an entirely meat-free menu and a programme of live music from a mixture of up-and-coming and more established artists, this is a spot which is as much about the lively atmosphere as the tempting menu of treats. Whether you're looking for somewhere to pop in for a quick bite, or want to spend a whole evening eating, drinking and listening to music with your friends, The Hug & Pint is great option near the centre of Glasgow.
The space has an almost pub-like feel to it, with a large central bar acting as the focal point and banquette seating along one side of the whitewashed brick walls. There are, however, a few quirky additions to the decor to reflect the fun side of The Hug & Pint; brightly coloured skateboards are hung up on one side of the room, while other walls have been brightly painted to almost look like pieces of modern art.
The food offering at The Hug & Pint changes daily and is written up on a blackboard, but the one thing that every dish has in common here is that it's all completely free of meat and dairy. Taking its inspiration from the street food of Asia, the menu is also designed for sharing among the table with mains rarely costing over a tenner each. Dishes on offer might include red chilli aubergine with pickled cucumber and sticky rice, sweet and sour plantain, and jackfruit curry.
In terms of drinks at The Hug & Pint, the main focus is on the bar's impressive selection of craft beers, a number of which are available on draught. There is also a short selection of wines available by both the glass and bottle, as well as the standard range of soft drinks.
