Shoreditch restaurant The Clove Club is leading an appeal for
aid to support victims of Typhoon Haiyan, which struck the Philippines last Friday leaving thousands feared dead.
Haiyan-Aid, set-up by The Clove Club joint-owner Daniel Willis, will see restaurants in the capital and beyond add £1 to each customer’s bill and then match the
total amount raised.
There are also plans to boost funds through an eBay auction, which will end on 25 November at 8pm when all prizes will go to the highest bidders.
The list of restaurants already signed up include Copa de Cava, Hibiscus, L'Entrepôt, The London Particular, Mayfields, The Modern Pantry,
Ottolenghi, Shake Shack, Tommi's Burger Joint and
Yum Bun. Upstairs At The Ten Bells,
run by foodie collective The Young Turks (who are behind The Clove Club) is also taking part, as is Paris restaurant Emperor Norton which has become the first international venue to sign up to the
appeal.
All the money raised will go to the DEC Phillipines Typhoon Appeal. Restaurants, bars and hotels can get involved by e-mailing HaiyanAid@gmail.com, while personal donations can be made on
Haiyan-Aid's Just Giving page at http://www.justgiving.com/HaiyanAid.
