Whether you're a local or a tourist, being in London and not visiting Leicester Square is impossible. This pedestrianised square in the west end of London is famous across the globe as the location of some nationally significant cinemas such as the Odeon Luxe and Empire, which are often used for the British film premieres of blockbusters. There's plenty to do in this part of London, even if you don't want to leave the square itself. Just around the corner, you've got London's Chinatown and Trafalgar Square, and within Leicester Square you can visit the M&M shop, the Lego store and enjoy food from many great restaurants. Leicester House once stood on Leicester Square but was demolished in 1792.
