The spookiest day of the year, October 31, first began as the pagan festival, Samhain, a time when the seasons change and the veil between the worlds of living and dead is at its thinnest. Like with most traditions, Halloween has become more commercialised over the years and is now better known as a time to dress up, go trick or treating and brush up on the choreography from Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’. As such, you’ll find plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween in London for kids and teenagers, from pumpkin carving to ghost tours.

This year, Halloween falls on a Thursday, so we're expecting the majority of London’s celebrations to take place on the following Friday and Saturday, although there are a few restaurants and bars which will be flying their freak flags high on the actual day itself too. To help you plan your Halloween night out, we have rounded up the best Halloween menus, and thrown in a few Halloween events in London for good measure. Or, explore our full list of Halloween events and parties this year that are sure to be fiendishly fun!
