Located in the bowels of the Crowne Plaza hotel, this blingy bar/lounge is decorated in shades of suburban glitzy glam that are more Sinitta than Sinatra. Fans of Champagne can road-test the capital’s largest selection of Pommery here, including the famous ‘Cuvee Louise’ in cute little ‘pop’ bottles, and there are plenty of serviceable cocktails too: try Slo-mot-ion (sloe gin, Chambord and Cointreau with crushed chilli and basil) or Bridewell (a ‘bold concoction’ of Amaretto, lemon vodka, Jameson whiskey and Frangelico). To nibble, pick from a jumbled selection of snacks ranging from a ‘selezione grande’ of cured meats and cheeses to dim sum, nachos and various sliders. Cigars are also a speciality. Beyond a heated passageway-cum-terrace, the old vaults have been converted into nine private VIP drinking dens, complete with day beds, cushions and faux-fur throws – perfect for naughty goings-on, we imagine.
