After sell-out events at Versailles (pictured) and New York, the third annual Relais & Châteaux Diner des Grands Chefs is coming to London's Old Billingsgate for one night only – and tickets
are now on sale.
A charity dinner held in aid of Action Against Hunger, Le Diner des Grands Chefs sees 45 international chefs at the top of their game compete in
teams to create a five-course meal for their tables. Although each group of chefs works from the same list of ingredients, the dishes produced for the 600 expectant diners are distinctly different.
UK representatives at the event will include honorary Englishman Raymond Blanc and Gary Jones (his head chef at Le Manoir aux Quat’
Saisons), plus Claude Bosi from Hibiscus, Gidleigh Park’s Michael Caines, Whatley Manor’s Martin Burge and Andrew Fairlie from Gleneagles.
Joining the Brits from further afield are chefs such as Margot Janse, from South Africa’s The Tasting Room (voted 57 in the 2012 World’s 50 Best awards),
Emmanuel Renaut (from Flocons de Sel in the French Alps), and Lanshu Chen, from Le Moût Restaurant in Taiwan.
This year, the chefs will work their magic with luxury British produce including Devon crab, Cornish lobster, Scottish scallops and Aberdeen Angus beef – all complemented by ingredients from a
well-stocked larder of seasonal specialities such as Jersey Royal potatoes, asparagus, nettles and gulls’ eggs.
The final dishes will be served with great pomp by the chefs themselves, and all courses will be accompanied by vintage Champagne courtesy of Pommery. After the dinner, guests can participate in a
live, silent auction, with all proceeds going to Action Against Hunger.
Le Diner des Grands Chefs will take place at Old Billingsgate on 22 April; tickets cost £650 per person. Proceeds from ticket and auction sales will be donated to Action Against Hunger.
