Meet the wine producer at Café Murano Covent Garden

Pastifico London italian wine shop Cafe Murano restaurant Covent Garden
Calling all oenophiles: Angela Hartnett’s Covent Garden restaurant is playing host to two wine tastings as part of its ‘meet the producer’ events. These evenings will give guests the opportunity to sample unique Italian wines while brushing up on their viticultural knowledge with talks from the growers themselves. First up is Marko Fon (15 March), who produces his own wines from vines dotted around the Karst Plateau on the border between Italy and Slovenia. Next, Nino Barraco (4 April) is in the hot seat talking Grillo, Zibbibo, Catarratto, Nero d’Avola and Pignatello – all grown on his family’s estate in Marsala.

Tickets to each event cost £40 and the tastings take place at Pastificio, Café Murano’s neighbouring wine shop. The price includes a welcome drink, snacks and tutored tastings of four wines with the winemaker, followed by a Q&A. Guests can then continue the fun by purchasing wine at a 10% discount and taking it into the restaurant next door for dinner (with no corkage) – or bagging a bottle (or several) to enjoy at home.
