Do you like your chefs with a bit of rock and roll swagger? Then get down to Sotheby's Contemporary Art Galleries this month, where Italian superstar chef Massimo Bottura - described by his peers as 'the Jimi Hendrix of Italian chefs' - will recreate his three-Michelin-starred Modena restaurant Osteria Francescana for Londoners.
Bottura (celebrating being voted number two in this year's World's 50 Best Restaurants awards, above) will feed guests a creative seven-course tasting menu that aims to marry the worlds of modern art and food on the plate. Dishes will range from a Damien Hirst-inspired beef fillet served with three vibrantly coloured sauces that will visually echo the artist’s spin paintings, to a dessert called ‘Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart’, which references Ai Weiwei’s 1995 work Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn.
Diners will also get a sneak peek of contemporary artworks that will be up for auction at Sotheby's in July - works by Hirst, Gerhard Richter, Lucio Fontana and more will decorate the pop-up dining room.
