On Tuesday 9 April, Clapham restaurant Four O Nine is hosting a Californian wine dinner featuring a tasting menu that will showcase six of its inventive modern-European dishes, each matched with a
top-quality Californian wine.
Four O Nine’s head chef has planned a menu of international allure, made with seasonal British ingredients. Guests can tuck into seared smoked sea trout with navy beans, shimeji mushroom, glazed
spring onions, pancetta, and wild nettles, or Cornish game hen with lamb’s foot mushroom, tomato, parsley, and toasted sage. For dessert, there’s lemon-and-rhubarb millefeuille, followed by toasted
hazelnut chocolates and petit fours.
To complement the dishes, the restaurant’s wine expert has selected a wide-ranging assortment of Californian styles, from rich Byron Santa Barbara County Chardonnay, to spicy, intense Burlesque
