Five-star Hertfordshire hotel The Grove is running workshops for aspiring pâtissiers and grill kings this summer, with a duo of masterclasses on cupcakes and barbecues taking place every weekend
until 22 August.
The cupcake masterclass will take place from 2.30 to 4.30pm every Saturday afternoon and will be run by London’s celebrity-popular Primrose Bakery or Cake Boy's Eric Lanlard. Guests will be given
plenty of unadorned cupcakes and buttercream to practise decorating, before taking their creations home, alongside a copy of the Primrose Bakery cookbook.
The barbecue masterclasses will take place on Sunday morning from 11am to 1pm. Using a range of Weber barbecues, guests will learn how to prepare and cook dishes on different kinds of barbecues –
think whole sides of treacle and tea-smoked salmon, boned leg of lamb stuffed with a pastrami filling, bread straight from the barbecue oven or stout-brined rack of pork, perhaps finishing off with
pineapple and sesame kebabs flambéed with rum.
The masterclasses will take place all through the summer, with a special Summer Cook-Out Weekend priced at just £325 per person, including one night’s accommodation in the West Wing sharing a
double room, breakfast, lunch and dinner (excluding drinks), plus the two masterclasses and a goodie bag. Places on the workshops that are not filled by residents of The Grove will be available to
non-resident guests, priced at £60 each per person per workshop. For further information or to book, call 01923 807807.
