Teddy's at The Shepherd Mayfair is a Paris-inspired, atmospheric cocktail bar in the basement of The Shepherd Mayfair hotel.
Reached either through the hotel or via a discreet entrance on Market Mews, it is inspired by Mayfair’s original 1960s drinking rooms and named after Edward Shepherd himself.
Here, deep blue patterned walls and pleated fabric meet dark, richly upholstered banquettes, floral armchairs and jewel-toned cushions, while small pink-shaded lamps cast pools of low light around the tables. Commissioned murals, Liberty archive prints and a low central bar continue the layered look, with a subtle Parisian influence woven through the design.
Teddy's specialises in elegant, elevated cocktails and a seductive atmosphere, influenced by an impressive programme of DJ sets and live bands. The vibe here is intuitive, not forced, so guests aren't always told when live performances will be taking over the space and evenings could take any direction. Similarly, there isn't a prescriptive attitude to closing times, instead the bar is available 'until late' - just another fabulously laissez faire nod from this sophisticated watering hole.
The Shepherd Mayfair is a design-led hotel sitting at the gateway to Shepherd Market, a pocket-sized Mayfair enclave that feels wonderfully removed from the grand avenues surrounding it. The hotel perfectly pairs contemporary comfort with references to the neighbourhood’s history, artwork and long-standing social scene, imagining itself as a historic mansion rather than a modern hotel. Shepherd Market itself dates back to the 18th century, when Edward Shepherd transformed Brookfield Fair into the intimate network of streets that remains today.
The hotel's design scheme feels elegant but characterful, with colour, pattern and commissioned artwork bringing warmth to the rooms and public spaces rather than defaulting to anonymous hotel minimalism. The Shepherd describes its approach as subtle but deliberate luxury, while its location means that restaurants, boutiques, galleries, parks and landmarks are all within easy reach.
