City Social

City Social

24th Floor, Tower 42, 25 Old Broad Street, London, EC2N 1HQ

Private dining reaches the heights at City Social, on floor 24 of Tower 42 to be exact. High quality food and service are a given, but it’s the breath-taking views of this refined and generous space (for 22 people) that provides the talking point. If views are not your thing, the chef’s table (for eight people) is a more intimate affair, where the attention is more on the food – Michelin-starred, of course.

Hakkasan Mayfair

Hakkasan Mayfair

17 Bruton Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 6QB

This luxurious private dining room is squirrelled away in the corner of Hakkasan, just a couple of strides from the long bar. It caters well for a flexible range of occasions, from formal dinner where you're out to impress or a more kick-back birthday party that requires less formality. It's flexible, too: sit-down dinners for up to 16 are handled as well as canapé receptions for a larger number. There's a pre-agreed minimum spend but this doesnt take away from the seductive vibe.

Hawksmoor Guildhall

10 Basinghall Street, City of London, London, EC2V 5BQ

At the Guildhall branch of Hawksmoor, you’ll find a dining room as British and traditional as the meaty menu. Featuring a central long table and deep red leather chairs, the room is a throwback to days gone by, completed by wooden walls (although the wall-mounted flat screen tv reminds you that time has moved on). Perfect for celebration dinners with some real flair, the room seats up to 22 guests for a night of feasting.

Corrigan

Corrigan's Mayfair

28 Upper Grosvenor Street, Mayfair, London, W1K 7EH

Richard Corrigan’s flagship is all about warm hospitality and jocular levity, but here in Mayfair you also get refinement by the bucket load in its various private dining rooms. The Lindsay Room has a 42in LCD screen, letting diners watch all the kitchen action or, for a more private affair, Poet’s Corner offers a more exclusive feel. At the Chef’s Table, guests meet the kitchen brigade before taking their seats behind a glass wall to watch them at work. Lastly, in the Kitchen Library tasting menus are introduced and served by the chefs.

Quaglino

Quaglino's

16 Bury Street, St. James's, London, SW1Y 6AJ

Quaglino’s two private dining rooms on the mezzanine level can be hired independently or in combination. Whichever way, the view of the main restaurant provides that additional sense of theatre while affording an air of exclusivity. We particularly love the larger Prince of Wales Room – the smaller room is called Giovanni – and it hard to beat the sheer atmosphere of Quaglino's when this place is rocking.

The Cinnamon Club

The Cinnamon Club

The Old Westminster Library, 30-32 Great Smith Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3BU

The Reading Room of the former library is the main private room at Cinnamon Club, and it's a good one, with its elemental grandeur, marked out by luxurious, heavy blue drapes and attractive duck-egg blue walls. Sit-down occasions are as well catered for as receptions with frist-rate canapés. Glass panelling separates this room from the restaurant, which allows privacy at the same time as affording some of the atmosphere from the main restaurant. If you're looking for more atmosphere opt for the Gallery (pictured), situated on the mezzanine above the main restaurant.

The Colony Grill Room at The Beaumont

The Colony Grill Room at The Beaumont

The Beaumont, 8 Balderton Street, Mayfair, London, W1K 6TF

Approached down a sweeping, curved staircase from the hotel lobby, The Lotos Room at this chic hotel is a large space, seating up to 45, or 60 for receptions. We like its old world walnut and cherry panelling, leather chairs and antique artefacts, and the room is certainly versatile, well suited to a range of occasions.
