SquareMeal Review of Piccadilly Institute

Top calls from The Piccadilly Institute’s sprawling, six-roomed pleasuredome are the Fruitbox (a ‘garden chill space’) & the Clinic – for their OTT decor, if not their cocktails: there are better examples of margarita & mai tai (£6.80) to be had elsewhere. Pitched at Euro youngbloods & the type of drinker who takes The X Factor seriously, this pseudo-gothic pile offers punters the chance to dress up, rip it up to pumped-up beats, & chat up anyone they fancy. In addition to regulation cocktails, the drinks list has wines from £16.50 right up to Cristal at £250 for the show-offs with bulging wallets. To keep the alcohol at bay, tuck into anything from pizzas & burgers to Brit stalwarts such as pigs in blankets or toad-in-the-hole.

Had lots of fun here, it's a crazy place – I saw a 10ft tall alice in wonderland and a talking chimp in one night!

I came for my birthday and booked a gorgeous package. I asked to be put in the Fruitbox room as it has a great view over Piccadilly, they said they couldn't promise it but luckily I got it! Drinks were pretty reasonably priced for central London and as I got there at 7pm I had 2 hours of happy hour with everything half price to get tipsy with! The nibbles were yummy and we all ended up wearing straw hats which we were given with the packaged. Ended up in the 90s music room which was hilarious. Lots of laughs to be had in this fun, quirky nightclub.

Beware!!! Booked and payed in advance for a booth for 8 people. Arrived and was directed to a small table with just 4 seats, in a corridor, at the top of a flight of stairs. Managemnet were extremely unhelpful, we were ignored for almost 30 mins and was told that they cannot guarentee adequate seating for a booking. Managed to get half the money back (nice easy money for them) and went to a much better bar with better service and better atmosphere (Grace – across the road) The management and door staff left a very sour taste. Do not bother with this place!!!
