It’s the show that everyone’s talking about. BBC’s reality TV hit The Traitors is back for a third season, with Claudia Winkleman welcoming a new group of strangers as they arrive at a stunning castle in the Scottish Highlands.
Unlike previous series, the number of contestants has increased from 22 to 25 players in 2025. All the contestants are fighting for the chance to win a share of up to £120,000. The faithful are the innocent and must banish the traitors from amongst their midst. Meanwhile, the traitors are tasked with eliminating the faithful as they aim to stay hidden and keep the money for themselves. The public has been warned to expect new twists and surprises this year, but only those left at the very end will be in with a chance to win the cash prize.
Aside from the obvious drama and tension, we can't argue that there is something alluring about the setting of the show. The castle location is back again for 2025 and gives a real sense of theatricality thanks to sweeping staircases, large fireplaces and lavish interiors - think tartan wallpaper, velvet curtains and stag's heads mounted to the walls. Its gothic-style interiors make it the perfect spot for deception and betrayal.
So, is the castle open to the public? And, more importantly, can it be hired out for an event or party? We answer all your frequently asked questions below, including where it's located and if you can stay there.
Where is The Traitors' castle located?
The Traitors is filmed at Ardross Castle, a 19th century castle located just north of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. It is here where most of the TV show's action takes place: from the daily missions to the evening discussions and banishments at the round table.
Can you hire out The Traitors castle?
Yes! Andross Castle is available for exclusive hire if you're looking for an outstanding location for a wedding, corporate or private event. Of course, it's also available as a stunning location for a film or TV show. Hire of the castle includes use of both the main building and its extensive grounds, with the property being set in over 100 acres of parkland.
Can you stay at The Traitors castle?
Unfortunately, Andross Castle does not let out individual rooms and doesn't function as a hotel, so if you were hoping to spend the night at this iconic location, then sadly you will be disappointed. But it's not personal: not even the show's contestants get to spend their nights at the castle and are instead whisked away each evening to the Courtyard Hotel in Inverness.
