The Anatolian jewel among many multi-faceted dining options, Skewd champions modern Turkish cooking set within The Grove's impressive Potting Shed conservatory. The restaurant combines bold, creative dishes with a relaxed setting overlooking the estate’s manicured gardens. In warmer months, outdoor seating allows guests to make the most of the scenery, while a dedicated kids’ menu ensures the whole family is catered for.
The dining room is best described as effortless Mediterranean shabby chic, thanks to partly exposed brick, striking wicker light shades and a whole host of trailing plants. Elegant glassware, rich azure blue curtains, and flowers arranged on each table add to the appeal. In fact, after a few Bosphorus Breeze cocktails, you’d be forgiven for thinking you'd somehow been transported to an upmarket Mediterranean villa.
The Skewd menu, meanwhile, offers a wide range of dishes to choose from, whether you’re sharing with the table or ordering per person. Like any great Anatolian restaurant worth its salt, it kicks off with cold mezze, offering up the likes of tarama, hummus, olives, and beetroot tarator, alongside a chef’s choice meze selection.
Elsewhere, hot meze offer up mini lahmacun, sujuk, hellim, and pulled lamb pide alongside chicken wings and coal-fired prawns. As for mains, expect a range of dishes from land, sea and soil, grilled over British woodland coal and served with shepherd’s salad. From Skewd’s signature lamb shish to mixed kebabs and wrapped beyti, which features adana wrapped in lavash bread, hung yoghurt, and Helep sauce.
Fish and seafood mains offer up coal-fired sea bass with hand-cut chips, mixed seafood kebabs and classic king prawns cooked in garlic, herb butter, and white wine. Dry aged grass-fed Herefordshire steaks are also available, alongside a smart selection of vegetarian dishes. To finish, just take your pick from classic Turkish desserts like kunefe and baklava, or opt for the likes of baked Alaska with Ferrero Rocher ice cream and velvet sponge cake.
