Design lovers and fashionistas know that the capital comes alive with creativity every September, as London Fashion Week and the London Design Festival mark two of the biggest cultural weeks in the city’s calendar. This year, Perrier-Jouët, the effortlessly chic Belle Epoque Champagne, celebrated London’s unique sense of style with a series of exclusive events.

The highlight was L’Eden by Perrier-Jouët, a pop-up space in Soho that created a totally new vision of nature in the urban heart of the city – inspired by the original paradise: the Garden of Eden. It played host to a series of special events and parties during London Fashion Week and the London Design Festival. At its star-studded launch party models Arizona Muse, Olivia Inge and Erin O’Connor joined actor Luke Evans and stylist Roxie Nafousi for a Champagne-fuelled evening of celebration with a DJ set by none other than Naomi Campbell.

Into the garden...

To create this modern-day Eden, Perrier-Jouët drew inspiration from its beautiful Belle Epoque bottle, designed by Émile Gallé in 1902 and decorated with Japanese anemones in Art Nouveau style. On the ground floor of L’Eden by Perrier-Jouët, Parisian designer Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance reinterpreted these natural motifs of Art Nouveau to create a Light Garden installation.

Guests were invited to pluck a Champagne flute suspended from the colourful installation, then move downstairs to explore the world’s first bio-responsive garden created by Bompas & Parr. Here, the plants followed visitors’ movements around the room, responding as people reached out to touch them and copying their motions to ‘dance’ with guests. The bio-electrical output of the plants also created a unique evolving soundscape for each guest.

A taste of Perrier-Jouët

Eden is also the name of Maison Perrier-Jouët’s cellar in Epernay, where the house’s most precious Champagnes are kept, and some guests were also invited into the L’Eden Cellar hidden away behind a velvet curtain, for a tutored tasting of six stunning Champagne cuvées, including Perrier-Jouët’s Grand Brut NV and the new vintage rosé Belle Epoque Edition Automne 2005.

Created by Perrier-Jouët’s cellar master Hervé Deschamps, Grand Brut NV is the house’s signature Champagne. With flavours of apricot, white cherry and ginger, plus delicate bubbles and a fresh, lightly spiced finish, it’s a perfect aperitif.

Belle Epoque Edition Automne 2005 is Perrier-Jouët’s latest prestige cuvée. Its vibrant palate has enough acidity to pair with savoury dishes such as sushi, caviar and Wagyu beef, as well as chocolate or red fruit desserts.

You can taste the full range of Perrier-Jouët Champagnes in top bars and restaurants across the capital…
