Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel founded by Raymond Blanc, is set to close its doors for a major redevelopment. The Oxfordshire estate, which first opened in 1984, will close its doors in January 2026 for 18 months of extensive works, with plans to reopen in summer 2027.

As part of the redevelopment, Blanc has confirmed he will be stepping back from day-to-day operations, transitioning into the role of Lifetime Ambassador. The chef took to Instagram, stating: ‘For over four decades, Le Manoir has been more than just a hotel; it’s been the canvas of my life's work. Every detail embodies my vision; creating a sanctuary where dreams become reality, thanks to the dedication of an extraordinary team.

‘To meet the needs of the future while staying true to our values, Le Manoir is embarking on a transformative redevelopment. This isn't simply a renovation; it’s a reinvestment in excellence and sustainability for a future for Le Manoir to thrive for another 40 years.’

A spokesperson for the site also commented on the closure, saying: ‘Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel will undergo visionary redevelopment throughout 2026.

‘It is an investment that demonstrates Belmond's commitment to maintaining and further enhancing the Oxfordshire hotel’s unparalleled global reputation for luxury, service and fine dining.’

The temporary closure is expected to significantly impact staff, with the hotel confirming that it 'will lead to redundancies while work is carried out.’ However, the team has promised that it will ‘work closely with affected individuals to provide support and guidance during the transition.’

While the company has not confirmed the exact numbers, local press has reported that up to 150 roles could be affected as a result of the closure.
