The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer is due to return this spring. But dame Prue Leith will not be standing alongside Paul Hollywood judging the contestants' creations.
The esteemed food critic and restaurateur has been a staple of the show since she took over from Mary Berry in 2017. Leith, now 84, first revealed the decision back in March 2024, citing the intensity of the back-to-back filming schedule as the primary reason. Leith will continue to judge the regular series of GBBO.
Caroline Waldegrave OBE, a friend and former colleague of Leith, will temporarily pick up the rolling pin to critique the 20 celebrity contestants on their bakes, cakes, and breads. Waldegrave's appointment maintains a strong connection to Leith's legacy. The two have collaborated on several cookbooks, including the popular Leith’s Cookery Bible, positioning her as a natural stand-in for the role.
Each episode, four celebrities will compete in signature, technical, and showstopper baking rounds in the hopes of nabbing the coveted Star Baker title. Among the hopeful contestants this year is Chicken Shop Date creator Amelia Dimoldenberg, along with podcasters and presenters Chris and Rosie Ramsey and brother and sister property experts Stuart and Scarlette Douglas. Other famous faces in the 2025 Stand Up To Cancer lineup will also include comedian Phil Wang, actor and writer Jim Howick, and Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway.
Hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding will return to provide their signature humour, support and encouragement while the contestants battle it out to raise money for the cancer charity. To date, the charity edition of GBBO has raised over £133 million.
