First came the black card at Nando’s, then Gregg’s quickly followed suit, but now the one we’ve all been waiting for… McDonald’s fans, your time has come. And in true McDonald’s fashion, the popular fast-food chain has bucked the trend by making its exclusive VIP card not black but gold, in keeping with its famous golden arches. Better still, unlike the other VIP cards at its rival chains – who are seemingly reserved for celebrity frequenters that include the likes of Ed Sheeran and Stormzy – the McDonald’s VIP gold cards are up for grabs by just about anyone. No need for a blue tick on your Instagram, you just need a bit of luck.

All you have to do to be in with the chance of getting your hands on one is to enter the McDonald’s Monopoly; a lottery style game that will be returning to the stores on 25 March. The competition has historically given customers the chance to win an array of amazing prizes including free apple pies, Big Macs and even cars and holidays. However, for aficionados of the chain it will undoubtedly be the golden VIP card that is the most coveted trophy when the game returns.

A spokesman for the chain commented: ‘It’s official… Gold is the new black’.

‘After years of requests, McDonald’s is launching a VIP Gold Card… no Brit Award required. The ONLY way you can get your hands on a McDonald’s Gold Card is to play, if Stormzy and Ed Sheeran want to get one, they’ll have to play Monopoly.’
