UK bakery chain Greggs has announced the return of its much-loved Festive Bake for 2021.
Despite Christmas still being a rather long 72 days away, Greggs has already announced one of its main attractions for the upcoming festive season. This winter, you’ll be able to warm your stomach thanks to the return of the Greggs Festive Bake – an indulgent savoury treat which consists of chicken breast pieces, sage and onion stuffing, Sweetcure bacon and a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, all wrapped in a warm pastry shell topped with a smattering of breadcrumbs. This year, there is also a vegan alternative which uses Quorn instead of meat.
Greggs has revealed that its Festive Bake will be back on shelves from Thursday 4 November and people are already excited. You could argue that it’s too early to start thinking about the C-word, especially as we haven’t even come to the end of October yet.
The vegan Christmas special is set to be a real treat for plant-based eaters who already enjoy Greggs' vegan menu
However, we know by now that the Christmas period begins earlier and earlier every year – in 2019, iconic London department store Selfridges opened its legendary Christmas shop a record 149 days early, reportedly to meet demand from customers obsessed with all things festive.
So, anyone trying to convince themselves that Christmas isn’t creeping up on us may as well admit defeat – resistance is futile. It’s time to dig out your big winter coat from the depths of your wardrobe, stock up on all kinds of supermarket chocolate and blast Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ from the office radio (ignore the complaints from Brenda in HR).
The Festive Bake will be available across Greggs stores nationwide, but if you want to stock up on the Christmas, um… delicacy, you may well be able to. Last winter, Iceland supermarket sold limited-edition frozen versions of the Festive Bake in partnership with Greggs. Let’s hope they do the same again this year.
