UK bakery chain Greggs has announced the return of its much-loved Festive Bake for 2021.
This Christmas, you’ll be able to warm your stomach thanks to the return of the Greggs Festive Bake – an indulgent savoury treat which consists of chicken breast pieces, sage and onion stuffing, Sweetcure bacon and a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, all wrapped in a warm pastry shell topped with a smattering of breadcrumbs. This year, there is also a vegan alternative which uses Quorn instead of meat, available in stores from 22 November.
There has been a slight delay to the launch of the Festive Bake however, which was originally scheduled to hit the shelves from Thursday 4 November but has had to be pushed back to the 22 November. Greggs did not give a reason for the delay of three weeks.
The Festive Bake will be available across Greggs stores nationwide, but if you want to stock up on the Christmas, um… delicacy, you may well be able to. Last winter, Iceland supermarket sold limited-edition frozen versions of the Festive Bake in partnership with Greggs. Let’s hope they do the same again this year.

What else is on Greggs' Christmas menu?
Greggs has also announced the first phase (yes, there’s more to come) of its Christmas menu, which includes the likes of a Pigs Under Blankets Baguette, Christmas Lunch Soup and its classic mince pies. The Christmas baguette is filled with all the trimmings including bacon, stuffing and a cranberry and port sauce while the Christmas Lunch Soup makes a warming option on chilly days and is made with smoked bacon, pork sausage, chicken, turkey, sage and onion stuffing and vegetables.
From 6th December (presumably, the second phase), customers will be able to get their hands on Pigs in Blankets on the go, with the bacon-wrapped mini sausages available to takeaway in a pot.
Meanwhile, there is a selection of hot drinks available to order now on its ‘Festive Tipples’ menu. For lovers of mint chocolate, both its Mint Mocha and Mint Hot Chocolate are sure to delight. The former blends espresso, steamed milk, hot chocolate and mint flavoured syrup before topping with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. While the hot chocolate is a similarly indulgent affair, with the bakery adding mint-flavoured syrup to its classic Fairtrade Hot Chocolate and topping with cream and chocolate sprinkles.
There’s also a Salted Caramel Latte made with freshly ground coffee beans, frothy milk and salted caramel flavour syrup before, again, being topped with whipped cream.
If you need something to nibble alongside your choice of hot drink, then pick up a pack of its homemade mince pies from £1.75 for six, or 50p each. Other sweet treats available from 22 November include Christmas Shortbread Bites, Star Biscuits, a Christmas Cake Slice and Christmas Buns.
