Gordon Ramsay is bringing a Michelin-starred pasta restaurant from LA to London

Michelin-starred LA hotspot The Pasta Bar is coming to London for two weeks in partnership with Gordon Ramsay. The pasta concept, which is known for its unique omakase-style tasting experience, is setting up shop in Shoreditch’s Pizza East, kicking off from 6 October.

The Pasta Bar in LA was originally opened five years ago by husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee, who have earned plaudits for their omakase-style Italian counter experience. The restaurant won a Michelin star within the first year of opening and has held it ever since, with the Guide describing the 'hip concept's tasting menu' as 'one for the books'. The duo has since taken the idea global with a string of international pop-ups, and now they’re heading to London to see if the idea lands here.

So, how does Gordon Ramsay fit into the equation? Well, the pasta pop-up is taking over relaxed East London restaurant Pizza East, which was bought by the Gordon Ramsay Restaurants group back in 2023. The residency will also be run by members of Ramsay's executive chef brigade, although details about its menus are under wraps for now.

All that’s been revealed so far is that diners will be able to choose between either an a la carte menu or a four-course taster. The meal will be paired with bespoke wines and cocktails, designed specifically for the collaboration and inspired by chef Frankland Lee’s American roots and Pasta Bar’s Italian ethos. Prices have yet to be confirmed.

For a flavour of what to expect, dishes on the menu of the original Pasta Bar in LA include king crab raviolo with fermented pineapple and macadamia nuts, and Australian lamb loin with merguez sausage, cipollini and cherries.

Speaking about the partnership, Ramsay said: ‘I am so delighted that Phillip Frankland Lee and his wife Margarita, from LA’s very cool, Michelin-starred Pasta Bar are heading to London for a unique collaboration with my team at Pizza East.’

'What a pop up this will be! I cannot wait to try their delicious menu and the whole Ramsay family will be first in line when it opens next Monday.’

The restaurant is also set to feature on Ramsay's new TV show, Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, airing on 10 October.

Frankland Lee commented: ‘After filming Knife Edge, collaborating with Gordon Ramsay Restaurants feels like the perfect next chapter for Margarita and me.

'Bringing our Michelin-starred Pasta Bar to Pizza East lets us trade ideas with a world-class brigade and cook for one of the most vibrant dining cities in the world. I’m honoured to share a kitchen with Chef Ramsay.'

The pop-up will run from 6-25 October 2025, and you can book a table here
