Set to open inside Newcastle’s Fenwick department store, the Greggs pub introduces a new menu riffing on classic Greggs bakes. From Saturday 27 September, the appropriately named Golden Flake Tavern will offer a ‘pub experience done the Greggs way’, every day from 11 to 7pm.
You’ll be able to get your hands on limited edition Greggs pub grub, bake-inspired cocktails, and two limited-edition beers crafted in collaboration with Newcastle brewery, Full Circle. Along with a fully stocked bar, the new Greggs beers include a Pink Jammie Pale Ale and Gosforth 1939 Stottie Lager, paying homage to the first-ever Greggs store, which opened in 1939 in Gosforth.
Other drinks include a 96 Mule cocktail, in honour of the sausage roll’s 96 layers of pastry, and a Spiced Caramel Doughnut Old Fashioned. The pub is also available for Christmas party hire, and will be running regular pub quizzes from 7 October, with £5 tickets and teams of up to six.

As for the food, the Greggs pub menu includes a steak bake mixed grill, a chicken bake parmo, and a Sunday carvery with a twist, in which a steak, chicken, or cheese and onion bake becomes the centrepiece alongside roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and trimmings. For dessert, there’s a yum yum bread and butter pudding as well as a pink jammie doughnut trifle, which sees doughnut pieces set in jelly and topped with jam, custard, and whipped cream.
The Newcastle Greggs pub follows on from various successful pop-ups, such as 2023’s Bistro Greggs and the more recent Greggs Champagne Bar.
Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: ‘Following the reaction and success of our previous collaborations with Fenwick – Bistro by Greggs in 2023 and the Greggs Champagne Bar last year – we’re thrilled to be launching our third landmark venture together.
‘The Golden Flake Tavern brings a fresh twist to the traditional British pub experience and we hope everyone who joined us before, along with many new faces, will come along to enjoy this unique Greggs experience.’
Leo Fenwick, strategic partnerships director at Fenwick, said: ‘As two North East icons, we’re proud to work together again in offering customers something playful, surprising and truly unique in the heart of Newcastle.’
The Greggs pub will stay open right up until 15 February.
