Call Miss Tapas to make a booking on:
Occupying a dinky space off Peckham’s main thoroughfare, this amiable tapas bar provides a daily blackboard menu of enticing Spanish snacks. The brick-walled dining room is stylishly furnished with leather-topped high stools, vintage photos of the owners’ home city of Seville, and reclaimed wine boxes serving as shelves. Imported Spanish ingredients are a highlight: quality acorn-fed ham, for instance, or hard-to-come-by cuts of pork such as presa (a tender fillet from between the shoulder and neck). However, there are a few concessions to the south-London location – in addition to plentiful by-the-glass sherries and Spanish wines on the drinks list, you’ll discover beers from Peckham’s breweries. Tuck into spherical croquetas oozing with creamy ham or truffled mushrooms, crisp nuggets of fresh hake sprinkled with paprika, curls of tender squid drizzled in garlicky coriander salsa, or a miniature runny-centred tortilla – and soak up an atmosphere that’s as warm as an Andalusian summer.
