Handy for anyone visiting Olympia’s exhibition halls, Mirabell is a smart new independent wine bar enlivening an otherwise arid stretch of the A315. The spruced up Victorian terrace house (complete with pavement tables) comes into its own from 5pm when trade at its sister café next-door winds down. Inside, high-backed cinnamon banquettes and a feature wine display-wall are further draws. A Coravin system ensures the wine comes in tip-top condition by the glass – from under £5 for a light young Languedoc Blanc de Blancs (its herbal and floral bouquet cut with apple and citrus). Bottles start at £15 (Italian Pinot Grigio rosé) and there’s plenty of interest for around £30. Prosecco, Champagne from £50 (Moët), spirits and craft beers are also available. To eat, grab a pork pie or choose from various sharing boards (fish, cheese and charcuterie) that are good value at around £13. An appealing oasis for oenophiles.
