Restaurants in Richmond & Ham

Richmond may be at the end of the tube line, right on the edge of London, but it’s saved from Surbubanitis by a speedy train to Waterloo, bringing the City’s bankers and lawyers back home to their families and children. A thriving village awaits them, bordered on one side by a leafy stretch of the Thames and on the other by the huge acreage of Richmond Park. Richmond Palace no longer exists, but the feel that this has been a very wealthy area for centuries is not misplaced. For years, the main streets have been home to strong family-orientated chains, filled with buggies pushed by nannies and yummy mummies – head to the old lanes round the Green to find more characterful cafés and pubs. In the last few years, the quality of proper dining has escalated and there are now an impressive proportion of individual restaurants, well worth seeking out.
