Call La Ferme Primrose Hill to make a booking on:
Following on from the original in Farringdon, this buzzy restaurant is full of French fancy for the Primrose Hill set. Open from midweek onwards, it offers a choice of three different menus: the five-course menu du chef, a weekly-changing market menu and a house selection of small sharing plates, charcuterie and cheeses. Dishes come with inventive twists, so confit duck arrives as a mini-burger, while marinated salmon receives an Asian makeover with kohlrabi and wasabi tobiko roe. Not all flavour combinations hit the spot, so sticking to classics such as garlicky Burgundy snails or Pyrenean lamb with peas and broad beans is the best bet. Weekends see a French-inspired brunch featuring a range of grilled croquet sandwiches and organic eggs on brioche toast. Reasonable prices are a plus (£39 for the menu du chef), though haphazard service was a let-down, with long waits between courses. Upstairs the quirky Deutz Champagne Bar seats just 14 and channels a 1970s loft vibe complete with macrame plant hangers.
