A fairly recent addition the Grand Union stable, this venue is tucked away down Rolls Passage in the heart of the City, but has all the hallmarks of the group – so expect an inclusive, unintimidating hideaway with its own character and style. The lush ‘Aladdin’s cave’ interior resembles a boudoir-esque stately home spread over two gorgeously refurbished floors complete with chandeliers, leather sofas, velvet curtains and vintage ornaments. By contrast the food is ‘dirty diner’ stuff – think ribs, wings, fancy burgers, sharing plates, hot dogs, foot-wide pizzas and crinkle-cut cheesy fries. With DJs spinning the decks and busy bartenders crafting interesting drinks such as Key Lime Pie Martini or homemade basil lemonade with Tequila and jalapeño, the vibe quickly ramps up into party mode at weekends – check out the secret courtyard and dancefloor downstairs. Quiz nights on Tuesdays.
