About

Goodman Restaurant is a modern, American-style steakhouse in Canary Wharf serving high-grade beef alongside premium wines. Boasting three sites in London at the time of writing, including Mayfair and the City of London, Goodman prides itself on using only the best ingredients, from its steak cuts which are sourced from all over the world to its carefully curated wine lists.

The interiors combine a retro aesthetic with modern touches. Studded leather banquets, warm wooden tones and a colour palette of chocolate browns create a warm and relaxed atmosphere, while exposed industrial pipes on the ceiling and hanging light fixtures create a contemporary feel.

The menu revolves around its premium steaks, with cuts sourced from Scotland, Japan, Australia, the USDA, the Lake District and Nebraska. Diners are invited to select their steak from a daily specials board, known as The Cut. Every day, the team of chefs check the ageing room and select the best possible cuts of beef to serve that day. This is then prepared, cut and trimmed by hand to offer diners the best quality meat possible. For maximum flavour, Goodman grills its beef over natural lumpwood charcoal at around 400 degrees.

Starters from the a la carte span Rockefeller oysters, prawn tempura with avocado, chipotle and gochujang mayo, and crab on toast with brioche, brown crab and butter sauce. While sides form a major part of the meal at Goodman, with indulgent options such as josper roasted onions, mac and cheese with truffle salsa, and triple cooked chips with parmesan.

This venture in Canary Wharf is the only restaurant to offer a Sunday roast. This includes a choice between Irish striploin (for one) or rib roast (for two) with all the trimmings.

When it comes to the drinks, its signature cocktail list features twists on classics, such as a Popcorn Old Fashioned featuring popcorn and butter infused buffalo trace, angostura bitters and toffee popcorn. While the extensive wine list includes wines by coravin, by the glass, magnums, regular bottles, and a section dedicated to wines from California.

Fantastic

Goodman's really know how to do it properly.  We hadn't been in a while, and if anything they have upped their game even more.  The staff there are very friendly, very helpful and engaging.  The food is fantastic.

The steak is the star of the show, but the side dishes and starters are given just as much care and attention.  Professionally made, these are not just thrown on a plate as in so many steak places.  Absolutely delicious . I don't know about the desserts, we were both too stuffed to even consider them.

Highly recommended.

The benchmark of quality meat and top level service. Well spaced tables, great menu and a magnificent wine list. The overwhelming experience from entering to leaving is one of being hosted beautifully for supper at a friend's house.

Possibly the most over-priced restaurant I have ever been in for what you get. Steaks priced at 35-£50 per person without vegetables and exclusive of service are just plain silly. Most of the starters are just plain boring too – OK for people who want a simple meal without much to stimulate the taste buds. The wine list is equally outrageous: £40+ for standard supermarket quality wines. A place for greedy diners with more money than either good taste or sense. A 3 course meal with half a bottle of wine, coffee and service will cost you £75-£100 which is totally ridiculous for a rather ordinary steak house. Would be fine at half the price. Uncomfortable chairs and tatty surroundings too. Very professional staff.
