Call Butterfly Bar at Santini to make a booking on:
Frank Sinatra was known to favour this Belgravian Italian restaurant, which has recently unveiled its new lounge bar. But as Ol’ Blue Eyes’ poison was JD on the rocks, it’s hard to imagine him sipping some of the florid signatures here – such as Giggly Geisha (a Japanese whisky, kumquat, ginger and lime Sour) or Lovely Laura (a raspberry Champagne cocktail) – however well made. Perhaps Manhattan Maybe (Redemption rye, Creole Shrubb, Dubonnet and bitters) was more his style. This Venetian-inspired bar is an operatic cocoon in gold and black, its sculpted silver stools surely the weightiest in London. The venue is open all day for coffees, pastries, light bites and the likes of beef carpaccio or spaghetti with lobster – to be accompanied by any from a considerable choice of wines by the glass. These days, plutocrats, parliamentarians and sundry starry faces flit through the Butterfly Bar, like Strangers in the Night.
