The Blue Eyed Maid story began 100s of years ago in the days when the Capital of England was in Winchester and the City of London was booming with real trade and merchants. When the Kings and Princes used to travel to the City and when they had to stay on the South bank of the Thames to freshen up after their long journey and before attending to their business matters.
The story goes that one of the Kings stayed in one of the Inns on this very road where he fell in love with a maid who (guess!) had the most beautiful blue eyes that captured the King’s heart.
