In truth, there’s a bit of overlap between this and our guide to the best breakfasts in Soho. After all, what defines brunch? Is it the time of day? The style of food? Perhaps a bit of both? For us, it’s really about the vibe - good brunch restaurants should have a nice mix of breakfast and brunch fare. There should be the potential to have a casual catch up over coffee and eggs, but with the chance to spontaneously order margaritas if things escalate. Some of our best Soho brunches are technically breakfast menus, but when they’re served right up to noon and beyond, we think they still count for a good brunch, and we couldn’t have lived with ourselves if we didn’t share them with you.

If you’re lining up a big brunch adventure in Soho and you’re not quite sure where to start your search, just keep scrolling and read about some of our favourite brunch spots. We’ve picked out something for every cuisine and budget, so whether you’re craving an eggs benedict or you’re planning a wild bottomless party, we’ve got the perfect place for you.

Nessa

nessa egg brunchs

What: Nessa serves one of our favourite brunches in London bar none, in fact, we sometimes dream of the epic sausage and egg muffin. There are lots of other good options, from eggs with seeded toast to an excellent eggs royal and a hefty mixed grill breakfast that includes a bacon chop, a meaty Oxford sausage and freshly made black pudding. If you have more of a sweet tooth, the buttermilk pancakes with seasonal fruit might be more your speed.

Inko Nito

egg on rice at inko nito

What: Inko Nito’s killer brunch offering gives you free reign over a good chunk of the menu for a very reasonable price. Get stuck into a shared selection of starters that includes sashimi, pork dumplings with grapefruit truffle dressing, and Japanese friend chicken with chilli garlic yoghurt, before you choose a main (yes, the miso black cod is available for a supplement). Save room for the delicious Inko cheesecake.

Kapara

kapara brunch spreads

What: Kapara diverts the colourful, eclectic cuisine of the Eastern Mediterranean to a rather lovely, dusty pink site in Iona Rose House. Everything about this restaurant is vibrant and fun, making it ideal for a big brunch with the crew. Kick off with hot and cold mezze, but save room for generous mains and Kapara’s chocolate sponge with tahini, miso, honey and cherry - it’s every bit as good as it sounds.

Duck and Rice Soho

dim sum brunch

What: Duck and Rice is always heaving with people, but get a few weeks ahead of the game and you should be able to book yourself a brunch spot at one of the best dim sum restaurants in London. You’ll need multiple visits to try all the delicious things on the menu, from steamed dim sum like har gau, delicious char siu buns and custard buns, to excellent cheung fun, crispy aromatic duck, the eponymous duck and rice, and so much more.

Söderberg Soho

eggs on toast at soderberg

What: Aside from your usual eggs on toast, yoghurt with granola and the like, Soderberg is really all about Swedish brunch classics. Yes, that includes a proper meatball brunch, served on sourdough toast with eggs, pesto and chilli jam. But wait, there’s more - waffles with fruit and clotted cream, open sandwiches galore, and all the cinnamon buns and semla you can fit in your belly. The relaxed, timber-heavy Scandi vibe is great too.

Balans Soho No.34

american pancake stack

What: Balans has been curing Soho-based hangovers since 1987, and this brunch menu has everything you could possibly want. Porridge? Check. Steak and eggs? Check. A whopping full English with crispy potatoes and toast? You bet. There’s even a choice of pancake stacks (the fried chicken and kimchi pancake are one of the best things on the menu) and we can highly recommend the crispy duck okonomiyaki too.

Dishoom Carnaby

dishoom brunch in soho

What: Much ink has already been spilled about the outstanding Dishoom breakfast, but this list wouldn’t be complete without talking about the now-iconic bacon naan and other Dishoom brunch items. In fact, much as we love the bacon naan, it sometimes overshadows some of the other delicious stuff on offer here - we’re huge fans of the kejriwal chilli cheese toast, or the simple pleasure of dipping a buttered bun into a pot of masala beans.
Where: 22 Kingly Street, W1B 5QB
Book now: Dishoom Carnaby

Korean Dinner Party

korean brunch with soju

What: Korean Dinner Party’s fun, accessible formula has made it extremely popular for brunches, where you can eat your weight in Korean corn dogs, fried chicken and kimchi as you down bottomless prosecco and Jinro soju. The star attractions are the fusion-tastic Korean tacos, where you stuff al pastor chicken thighs into soft flour tacos with Asian slaw and Korean ssamjang - a combo that we never knew we needed until now.
Where: Kingly Court, Carnaby Street, W1B 5PW

Imad's Syrian Kitchen

brunch dishes at imads syrian kitchen

What: Imad Alarnab’s story is quite something - as a refugee from war torn Syria, he cooked his way all the way across Europe, feeding other refugees in camps, before finally making it to the UK. His Kingly Court restaurant is a true joy, and you can nip in for a spot of Syrian brunch seven days a week, where Alarnab and team serve up incredible shawarma beendicts, fatteh flatbreads with chickpeas and tahini, and perhaps the best shakshuka anywhere in central London.
