Best known for its national parks, stately homes and maritime museum, Hampshire is a lively destination with plenty on offer. With the New Forest woodland at the county's Eastern edge and a stunning coastline running along the south, it is a truly striking area with gorgeous vistas at every turn. Alongside the countryside appeal, part of the attraction of Hampshire is its growing culinary scene, offering locals and visitors a variety of dining options, from classic British cuisine in traditional pubs and gastropubs, to outstanding Michelin-starred dining. In recent years, the farm-to-table dining concept has gained momentum across the UK and Hampshire is no exception. The area's rich agricultural heritage allows plenty of high-quality local produce to grace the menus of many restaurants in Hampshire, particularly game and seafood due to its many hunting fields and seaside location. So, if you’re in search of a place to eat in Hampshire, you're sure to find the perfect fit here.

Hampshire is a county steeped in history with a deep cultural significance to the wider country. The county’s coastline houses two of Europe’s largest ports, Southampton and Portsmouth, the latter of which is the birthplace of the Royal Navy and home to famous ships like Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory. The D-Day landing also launched from the Hampshire coast, making this area a real harbour of maritime heritage.

There’s plenty to see all over the county, from historic buildings to its vibrant arts and culture scene, to numerous quaint villages and modern towns. Head to Winchester to get a glimpse of one of the largest cathedrals in Europe, featuring breath-taking Gothic architecture from as far back as the medieval period. Pay a visit to the birthplace of Jane Austen, which has now been developed into a museum displaying her life and works. For the Downton Abbey fans among you, journey to Highclere Castle where it was filmed, and snap some pictures of the striking façade.

Head east to the New Forest if you’re feeling lively and partake in a wealth of outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling and horse riding. Alternatively, opt for a more chilled-out approach and browse the many independent boutique shops and cosy tea rooms that are dotted around, or try some Hampshire English sparkling wine. Whether it's fish and chips or one of Hampshire's fancy fine dining destinations, there are plenty of excellent restaurants to try here.
