SquareMeal Review of The Telegraph - Putney

On a wet and windswept day there’s a touch of the Wuthering Heights about this isolated pub that sits cheek-by-jowl alongside Putney Heath. It’s not surprising a meal or a drink here is often married with a hearty walk, as the green-wellied labrador walkers will testify. Real ale and log fires provide an atmospheric backdrop for drinkers downstairs while upstairs you’ll find refectory tables and a menu that touts sandwiches, pizza, and the likes of steak, fish & chips, Caesar salad or a burger, all done to a good standard. Round it all off with noteworthy old-fashioned puds.

nice location and a pleasant surprise. However, Sunday lunch was not what it could have been. The service was very mixed, one or two of the female members seemed only happy to finish their shift and get out. Too many items form the menu were not available to judge all of it, so the general feeling was of disappointment.
