SquareMeal Review of
The Jam Tree
The Jam Tree’s lively take on a gastropub injects colour & verve into proceedings, while remaining committed to providing simple, robust food & a neighbourhood atmosphere. Nestled on a
residential backstreet, this is a cosier spot than its new King’s Road sibling, with refectory tables, vibrant artwork & doors opening on to the street in summer. The kitchen rustles up modern
British pub food, with some colonial flavours thrown in. Start with curried crab samosas & raita, followed by roasted pork fillet with egg noodles, choi sum & pickled plums swimming in
punchy chicken broth. Dessert lovers should try the South African malva pudding with Amarula ice cream, perhaps paired with a naughty jam mojito. The concise wine list includes good inexpensive
choices, & there are continental lagers on tap.
