Squaremeal Review of The Greek Larder ?

Theodore Kyriakou has been responsible for many of the innovations in London’s Greek dining scene, dating from his opening of The Real Greek in 1999 (and he also co-founded Livebait). His latest venture incorporates a food store and sizeable restaurant, focusing on regional Greek produce from independent suppliers and updated traditional recipes. The venue – located in the spanking new ArtHouse site in King’s Cross, overlooking the Regent’s Canal – is open throughout the day, starting with breakfast and weekend brunch. A la carte offerings range from a regional meze, and traditional favourites such as souvlaki and filo pies, to the likes of grilled trahana cake with crevettes, Cretan deep-fried courgette flowers stuffed with feta and sprinkled with thyme honey, and pastourma with thyme yoghurt cheese. To finish, try the manouri mousse with orange blossom honey and pistachios.

    Greek food combines fresh Mediterranean flavours with a popular style of eating; sharing small plates amongst groups of friends. This mezze or tapas style of eating is something I’m a fan of. I get food envy otherwise and so eating Mezze or Tapas means I get to try more of the menu. I guess you could also say I’m a bit greedy.

    The Greek Larder is in King’s Cross in an area that also houses the likes of Dishoom, The Grain Store and Caravan. It’s pretty trendy looking and if you work or live in the area you’re pretty spoilt for choice when it comes to tasty dishes...
