SquareMeal Review of
Tank & Paddle Minster Court
Having axed Agenda, the previous occupant of this site, owner Novus Leisure (whose City portfolio also includes Amber, Babble, Forge and The Sterling) has set a new agenda here: namely, craft beer and handmade stone-baked pizza. Tank-brewed ales by one-time indie outfit Meantime (recently flogged off to Japanese brewing behemoth, Asahi) are supplemented by beers from Scottish success story, Brewdog, with bottled brews, ciders, classic cocktails and wine making up the numbers. Meal and drink deals throughout the week and free tastings are a draw for local office workers. Pizza arrives off the eponymous paddle, with toppings including ‘Veg Your Bets’, ‘Beef Encounter’, and ‘The Chick-Flick’ (with cajun chicken, peppers and spinach, fair at £15). Otherwise, try one of the various takes on mac'n'cheese – with added pepperoni and chilli for instance – or fresh salads followed by Nutella dough balls, at this mid-market, mainstream canteen on Mincing Lane.
