The Fourth Floor Cafe Harvey Nichols Leeds

SquareMeal Review of The Fourth Floor Café

The Leeds branch of Harvey Nichols strikes a casual, contemporary pose with its long bar, spectacular rooftop vistas and open kitchen – a glamorous mix of burnished gold mirrors and teal-toned leather seats tailor-made for shoppers and the city’s smart set. On-trend flavours and seasonal ingredients are the keynotes of a concise menu that might offer pan-seared wild sea trout with tomato and fennel broth or venison carpaccio with aubergine caviar ahead of poached chicken with celeriac, fried bread and parmesan tortellini or roast cod with butter-braised cannellini beans, truffled cream and summer greens. Depending on the season, you might finish with gâteau Opéra or strawberry jelly accompanied by lemon and basil sorbet. Set menus offer decent value (£20/22 for two/three courses) and the global wine list is up to Harvey Nick’s usual exemplary standard.
