SquareMeal Review of
Dandelyan at Mondrian London
Occupying a sexy, Tom Dixon-designed room within the Mondrian London, Dandelyan is a destination for real cocktail aficionados – thanks to mixology maestro Ryan Chetiyawardana, who has won gongs galore for his prowess and written a jolly nice book on the subject too. Don’t come here and request a Mojito; instead, ask the capable staff to recommend something suitable from a list divided up into botanically themed categories such as ‘hunter’, ‘gatherer’, ‘shaman’ etc. Ryan (aka Mr Lyan) dreams up curious creations using pine, oak or birch as their starting point, but with additions such as seaweed or bee pollen creeping in. As a sampler, try his Mimosa (hopped Cocchi Americano aperitif, Grey Goose Vodka, mimosa root, sparkling clementine, tamarind and turmeric) or Fahrenheit Wine (Maker’s Mark, bourbon, Dandelyan posca, coriander seed and chrysanthemum). There are cheaper cocktails in town, but we wager you won’t find better.
