A meaty offering from New York’s high-flying Altamarea Group, Chop Shop’s vibe channels the industrial look du jour, with heavy-duty metal lights, bare brickwork and reclaimed tiles, plus a feature wall embedded with ferocious-looking butcher’s knives and cleavers – although some of the expected Soho swagger has been toned down for London’s theatreland crowd. The menu kicks off with sharing riffs – think ‘jars’ (duck liver mousse with pear mostarda), ‘crocks’ (pulled pork sausage rolls) and ‘planks’ of cheese or cured meats. Italian/US themes also crop up in everything from cotechino Scotch eggs with salsa verde to Middle White pork loin with nectarines, as well as Gelupo gelati and affogato alongside peanut-butter sundae for dessert. Otherwise, expect a full crop of Creekstone USDA steaks, Cumbrian chops and burgers to go with beers, wines and cocktails. Staff are “incredibly friendly”.
