I’d been hearing a lot about Chick N Sours, the latest chicken restaurant to open up in London. I’d been to Chicken Shop and Chicken Box. So I wondered what was going to make Chick N Sours different from its competitors. It opened up last week in Dalston, so we thought we’d go and see what all the fuss was about...

Just like burgers, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of chicken, which is rather handy as a new fried chicken shop has just opened on the Kingsland Road near Rotorino. It’s by a chap called Carl Clarke who has had a string of successful residencies and pop-ups all over the shop. It’s a sweet little spot and one which looks like it’s had a bit of money spent on it; the semi-tiled walls are beautiful. Be warned though, there’s no lock on the gents...

Chick’n’Sours has been on our hit list for the past 3 weeks since it opened its doors to the public. It’s in an up and coming area high up on the Kingsland Road and perched on the doorstep of the new Hagerstown Overground giving us easier access than ever to get repeated sessions in over the next few months. The space is small but the waitlist is long and if you don’t get online and score yourself a table then you might be disappointed when you show up to a fully booked restaurant...

Another carriage has been added to the Stokey train and this one is full steam ahead into poultry land. Chick 'n' Sours rolls onto the platform with superbly succulent chicken cooked in various guises accompanied by tankards of tongue tingling sours. It's all in the name! The tiny laminated menu ticked the cute factor but also the incredibly difficult to read in the unflattering neon light factor too. Once we'd had our grandad moan about locating our reading glasses, we turned to beverage ordering...

DJ turned Chef Carl Clarke has been winning fans all over London with his Disco Bistro Chicken Wings (Disco Wings for short) at various popups, residencies and street food events, but he's finally settled down in Haggerston. Chick'N'Sours is the newest member of Roy Walker's "say what you see" club that also includes Duck & Waffle, Burger & Lobster, and Meat & Shake. Smoking Goat, Dirty Bones and Smack haven't quite got the hang of it...

Chick n Sours. Oh yes. Oh yes yes yessssssssss.I’m a fan.It took me a while to get here, took me a while to try any of Carl Clarke’s food in fact but it was worth the wait. This place is chicken heaven and we loved everything. Except the fries. The fries were way too ordinary. But everything else was fabulous.
